The UNI Tallgrass Prairie Center is hosting a field day demonstration for their Prairie on Farms Project. The field day will be held on September 14th in Dysart at the Luze Family Farm. Participants will have the opportunity to look at seven in-field prairie strips, one saturated buffer, and a prairie buffer strip.
Prairie plantings provide multiple benefits to a farm including help with flood reduction, nutrient reduction, soil conservation, promote wildlife and are important for pollinators. Contact Ashley Kittle, Program Manager at the UNI-TPC, for more information about the field day or visit, http://www.tallgrassprairiecenter.org/events.
