Nishnabotna Flood Resiliency Tournament

January 8, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The planning team for the East and West Nishnabotna River Watershed and Flood Resiliency Plans is organizing a Flood Resiliency Tournament. This tournament, or scenario-based exercise, is designed for stakeholders from across the watersheds to work in teams and play out potential strategies that would reduce flood risk for the region. Participants in the tournament will gain a better understanding of community-supported projects and policies aimed at improving flood resiliency within the watersheds. Furthermore, the tournament is an opportunity for networking and cross-sector collaboration among stakeholders involved during a flood response

There are two planned tournaments, please attend one.  The locations and time for the tournaments are:

January 8, 2019 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the C.G. Therkildsen Activity Center, 706 Victoria Street, Harlan, IA
• January 10, 2019 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Montgomery County History Center, 2700 N. 4th Street, Red Oak, IA

To ensure that each community and organization is represented at these tournaments, reservations are requested. Please RSVP by December 21, 2018 by contacting Becky Appleford, a planner with JEO Consulting Group, at 402-392-9915 or rappleford@jeo.com.

Your time and commitment in participating in this tournament will be greatly appreciated and ensure the development of a locally inspired and successful plan! If you have questions, please feel free to contact Becky or myself at (712) 482- 3029 or cmorgan@goldenhillsrcd.org.
